About
The Noatak flows 335 miles through Alaska's Brooks Range under National Wild & Scenic protection and National Park Service management. Three main sections define the river: from the Cutler River confluence down to Noatak Village, from TwelveMile Slough to Lake Matcharak, and from Lake Matcharak to the Cutler River. The watershed drains one of North America's largest undeveloped river basins, cutting through tundra valleys between the Brooks Range peaks and the Chukchi Sea coastal plain.
