Kings River
About
From the Boston Mountains through Madison and Carroll counties, the Kings River cuts 90 miles of Ozark Highland corridor designated as an Arkansas Natural State Scenic River. The upper 20 miles from Boston to Trigger Gap hold the best whitewater at Class II-III, while the middle section through Trigger Gap to Marshall Ford stretches 30 miles of Class I-II through scenic canyon walls. Below Marshall Ford, the final 40 miles to Berryville open into wider valley terrain and flatten to Class I. At 520 CFS average with an optimal range of 200-2000 CFS, the Kings handles everything from technical low-water runs to pushy spring floods. Kings River Outfitters serves the corridor for paddlers without their own gear. USGS gauge 07050500 tracks flows through the system.
River conditions are community-verified. CFS ranges, difficulty ratings, and access points may not reflect every flow level or seasonal change. Always check current conditions, scout unfamiliar rapids, and paddle within your skill level.
