North Fork Feather River
About
Two distinct sections of the North Fork Feather River flow through U.S. Forest Service land in northern California. The upper reach runs from Rock Creek Dam to Rock Creek Powerhouse, while downstream the river continues from Poe Dam to Poe Powerhouse. Both segments operate as controlled releases below hydroelectric facilities, creating consistent flows through forested canyons. The 16-mile river corridor remains under federal management, though specific flow data and technical classifications are not monitored at established gauge sites.
River conditions are community-verified. CFS ranges, difficulty ratings, and access points may not reflect every flow level or seasonal change. Always check current conditions, scout unfamiliar rapids, and paddle within your skill level.
