About

Through Ontario's farmland and towns, the Grand River runs 300 kilometers from its headwaters to Lake Erie at Port Maitland. Designated a Canadian Heritage River in 1994, it offers everything from the technical drops of Elora Gorge — where Class II-III water supports commercial tubing operations — to the flatwater corridor below Brantford. The Cambridge to Paris stretch provides calm Class I canoeing water, while Paris to Brantford picks up gentle riffles that make it popular with intermediate paddlers. The Grand River Conservation Authority manages the watershed and maintains access points throughout the system. Below Brantford, the river settles into a flatwater corridor that carries paddlers the final distance to Lake Erie.

Data Quality

River conditions are community-verified. CFS ranges, difficulty ratings, and access points may not reflect every flow level or seasonal change. Always check current conditions, scout unfamiliar rapids, and paddle within your skill level.
