Big Wood River
About
Bureau of Land Management sections define much of the Big Wood River's 45-mile run, with Class II water averaging 446 CFS through an optimal range of 225–675. USGS gauge 13139510 tracks the flows that determine whether the river runs at its mellow lower end or pushes toward the upper threshold where Class II features become more consequential. The gradient and character shift as flows change within that 450 CFS spread, but specific access points and section details require coordination with BLM offices that manage the corridor.
River conditions are community-verified. CFS ranges, difficulty ratings, and access points may not reflect every flow level or seasonal change. Always check current conditions, scout unfamiliar rapids, and paddle within your skill level.
