Payette River
About
Banks to Beehive Bend delivers seven miles of Class III-IV whitewater at 1,263 CFS average through a BLM and Forest Service cooperative management area. The Payette runs optimal between 625 and 1,900 CFS on gauge 13246000, with the sweet spot around 1,200-1,400 for most paddlers tackling the technical drops and boulder gardens that define this stretch. Above 1,500 CFS the hydraulics get pushy; below 800 CFS the rocks start scraping. This is continuous whitewater demanding solid Class III skills and reliable roll recovery.
River conditions are community-verified. CFS ranges, difficulty ratings, and access points may not reflect every flow level or seasonal change. Always check current conditions, scout unfamiliar rapids, and paddle within your skill level.
