Blue River
About
Indiana's first Natural & Scenic River designation went to the Blue River in 1973, protecting 50 miles of limestone country through Harrison and Crawford counties. The river runs at 480 CFS average with optimal flows between 200–800 CFS on USGS gauge 03303000. Class I-II water predominates, with the Fredericksburg to White Cloud stretch covering the best 20 miles of the system. Below White Cloud, the final 15 miles to Leavenworth widen as the river approaches the Ohio. Harrison-Crawford State Forest protects much of the corridor. Cave Country Canoes provides outfitting services for paddlers working the system.
River conditions are community-verified. CFS ranges, difficulty ratings, and access points may not reflect every flow level or seasonal change. Always check current conditions, scout unfamiliar rapids, and paddle within your skill level.
