North Fork White River
About
From Topaz Spring through the Mark Twain National Forest, the North Fork White River runs 100 miles of Missouri Blue-Ribbon trout water through Ozark and Howell counties. The upper 20 miles from Topaz Spring to Twin Bridges hold the most intimate water — narrow, spring-fed, and cold enough for trout year-round. Below Twin Bridges, the 30-mile Blue Spring run delivers the prime fishing, with major spring inputs maintaining trout temperatures through summer. The final 30 miles to Norfork Lake open into classic Ozark float country, wider and warmer but still productive. At 520 CFS average with an optimal range of 200–1200, the North Fork handles canoes and drift boats equally well through mostly Class I–II water. Dawt Mill Resort operates as the primary outfitter on the middle section. USGS gauge 07057500 tracks flows that can push well above optimal during spring runoff, when the gentler sections become pushy and the Class II drops get more serious attention.
River conditions are community-verified. CFS ranges, difficulty ratings, and access points may not reflect every flow level or seasonal change. Always check current conditions, scout unfamiliar rapids, and paddle within your skill level.
