Truckee River
About
From Tahoe City through 105 miles of Sierra Nevada and Great Basin terrain, the Truckee River runs Class I–III water at an average 580 CFS through Washoe County. The upper 15 miles from Tahoe City to Truckee represent the Sierra headwaters section, while downstream the Reno Whitewater Park offers Class II–III urban rapids within city limits. Optimal flows range from 300–1200 CFS on USGS gauge 10348000. The Truckee River Greenway designation protects corridor habitat, and portions flow through the Pyramid Lake Paiute Reservation. Truckee River Raft Company operates commercial trips on select sections.
River conditions are community-verified. CFS ranges, difficulty ratings, and access points may not reflect every flow level or seasonal change. Always check current conditions, scout unfamiliar rapids, and paddle within your skill level.
