Neversink River
About
From the Catskill headwaters through Sullivan and Ulster counties, the Neversink runs 55 miles of riffled water to its confluence with the Delaware River at Port Jervis. The upper reaches flow through NYC watershed lands with limited public access, but below Neversink Reservoir the river opens to anglers targeting stocked rainbow and brown trout. At 220 CFS average flow (optimal range 60–400 CFS), the Neversink maintains fishable conditions through most seasons when checked against USGS gauge 01435000. The lower river picks up volume and accessibility as it approaches the Delaware confluence, though the entire system remains within Catskill Park boundaries. Catskill Flies operates guided trips on accessible sections, focusing on the fly fishing heritage that has drawn anglers to these waters for generations.
River conditions are community-verified. CFS ranges, difficulty ratings, and access points may not reflect every flow level or seasonal change. Always check current conditions, scout unfamiliar rapids, and paddle within your skill level.
