Willowemoc Creek
About
Junction Pool marks where the Willowemoc meets the Beaverkill in what many consider the most famous pool in American fly fishing. The Willowemoc itself runs 27 miles through Sullivan County in the Catskills, averaging 200 CFS with optimal flows between 80 and 400. Above Livingston Manor, the upper section from DeBruce offers intimate pocket water through hemlock stands. The middle stretch from Livingston Manor down to the famous junction at Roscoe provides classic Catskill pool-riffle-run structure that has defined eastern dry fly fishing for over a century. Dette Trout Flies and Beaverkill Angler maintain the traditional outfitting presence in Roscoe. The Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum, founded in 1981, sits along these waters that helped establish American fly fishing technique. New York designated the Willowemoc a State Scenic River within Catskill Park, recognizing both the fishery and the cultural heritage of a creek that taught generations of anglers to read water.
River conditions are community-verified. CFS ranges, difficulty ratings, and access points may not reflect every flow level or seasonal change. Always check current conditions, scout unfamiliar rapids, and paddle within your skill level.
