About
Wild & Scenic since 1968 as one of the original eight rivers in the system, the Rogue cuts 215 miles through Jackson, Josephine, and Curry counties from the Cascade Crest to the Pacific. At 3,200 CFS average, optimal flows run 1,000–4,000 CFS depending on the section you're running. The Wild Rogue corridor from Grave Creek to Foster Bar delivers 40 miles of Class III–IV wilderness floating that draws over 5,000 annual visitors — a multi-day commitment through roadless country in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest. Above that, Grants Pass to Grave Creek offers accessible Class I–II water, while the Lower Rogue from Galice to Gold Beach mixes Class I–III rapids with prime steelhead holding water. Commercial outfitters including Rogue River Raft Trips and Oregon Whitewater Adventures run the permitted sections. The gauge to watch is USGS 14361500, though different sections perform differently across the flow range. American Whitewater maintains stewardship agreements for access and conservation advocacy.
