About

Through Spartanburg and Newberry counties, the Enoree runs 87 miles of Class I water at 520 CFS average, with optimal paddling between 200–1000 CFS on gauge 02160700. The upper reach in Spartanburg County passes pastoral farmland dotted with mill-era ruins from the textile boom. The middle section flows through the Sumter National Forest corridor, where the Enoree Ranger District has managed the forested reach since 1997. Below that, the lower Enoree winds through Newberry County toward its confluence with the Broad River. South Carolina's Scenic River designation protects the corridor from development pressure. Palmetto Outdoor Center runs trips on the system for paddlers looking for easy current and reliable water levels year-round.
