Abrams Creek
About
Brook trout restoration work began in 2009 across Abrams Creek tributaries within Great Smoky Mountains National Park, where this 20-mile stream drops through Blount County at an average 95 CFS. Wild rainbows hold in the pastoral Cades Cove headwaters through Class I riffles, while the lower gorge cuts a deeper canyon with Class II water and larger wild rainbows. Abrams Falls marks the midpoint — a 20-foot drop accessible by short trail that gives the creek its name. At optimal flows between 40–200 CFS on gauge 03518100, the creek runs clear and cold through protected national park corridor. Smoky Mountain Angler guides the fishery for anglers working the gradient from meadow water to technical pocket water in the gorge sections.
River conditions are community-verified. CFS ranges, difficulty ratings, and access points may not reflect every flow level or seasonal change. Always check current conditions, scout unfamiliar rapids, and paddle within your skill level.
