Caney Fork
About
Below Great Falls Dam, the Caney Fork runs as Tennessee's newest trophy trout tailwater through White and DeKalb counties. Cold releases from the dam create world-class fishing conditions that earned Trophy Trout Stream designation in 2024. The tailwater section flows Class I-II at an average 2,200 CFS, with optimal fishing and paddling conditions between 200-1,500 CFS according to USGS gauge 03424860. Above the influence of Center Hill Lake, the upper Caney Fork continues as Class I-II water through 145 miles of total length. The Rock Island to Center Hill stretch drops through canyon country at Class I gradients. Caney Fork Outdoors provides guided access to the fishery, which has quickly gained recognition among trophy trout anglers since the recent designation.
River conditions are community-verified. CFS ranges, difficulty ratings, and access points may not reflect every flow level or seasonal change. Always check current conditions, scout unfamiliar rapids, and paddle within your skill level.
