Lamoille River
About
From Green Mountain National Forest headwaters through Lamoille County, the Lamoille River runs 85 miles at an average 1400 CFS with optimal flows between 400–2000 CFS. The upper section from Morrisville to Johnson flows Class I–II through mountain valley terrain, while downstream from Johnson to Fairfax the gradient steepens into Class II–III water through Fairfax Gorge. Umiak Outdoor Outfitters provides guided trips on the system. USGS gauge 04292000 tracks flows for this Vermont Rivers Management Program waterway. The Lamoille's substantial volume and range of technical difficulty make it one of northern Vermont's more reliable whitewater runs when snowmelt or rainfall brings levels up.
River conditions are community-verified. CFS ranges, difficulty ratings, and access points may not reflect every flow level or seasonal change. Always check current conditions, scout unfamiliar rapids, and paddle within your skill level.
