Baraboo River
About
Flowing 218 miles to its confluence with the Wisconsin River, the Baraboo carries an average of 295 CFS through its designated water trail system. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources maintains six defined sections: Union Center to LaValle, LaValle to Reedsburg, Reedsburg to Rock Springs, Rock Springs to Giese Park, Giese Park to Glenville Landing, and the final stretch from Glenville Landing to the Wisconsin River. Optimal flows run 150–450 CFS, monitored at USGS gauge 054041665. The water trail designation provides consistent access points and basic infrastructure for multi-day trips through the Driftless Area's distinctive topography.
River conditions are community-verified. CFS ranges, difficulty ratings, and access points may not reflect every flow level or seasonal change. Always check current conditions, scout unfamiliar rapids, and paddle within your skill level.
