Fox River
About
At 981 CFS average through 354 miles of designated water trail, the Fox River maintains paddling flows between 500 and 1450 CFS on gauge 04073365. The Fabulous Fox Water Trail covers the Wisconsin section, while the Fox-Wisconsin Heritage Water Trail extends the designated corridor. Near Kaukauna, the river splits into the Thousand Islands complex — a maze of channels and backwaters that requires route-finding skills. Private ownership along much of the Fox means access coordination becomes critical for longer trips.
River conditions are community-verified. CFS ranges, difficulty ratings, and access points may not reflect every flow level or seasonal change. Always check current conditions, scout unfamiliar rapids, and paddle within your skill level.
