Walhonding River
About
From Mohawk Dam through Coshocton County, the Walhonding carries an average 1,653 CFS through 24 miles of wooded corridor before joining the Tuscarawas at Three Rivers in Coshocton. Part of the designated Mohican-Walhonding-Muskingum water trail system, this Class I float runs best between 500 and 3,000 CFS on gauge 03138500. The upper section from Mohawk Dam to Warsaw moves through forested banks, while the lower stretch continues to the confluence where the Walhonding and Tuscarawas form the Muskingum River. The substantial flow and gentle gradient make this a reliable paddle through much of the season.
River conditions are community-verified. CFS ranges, difficulty ratings, and access points may not reflect every flow level or seasonal change. Always check current conditions, scout unfamiliar rapids, and paddle within your skill level.
